Plastering new builds

Not every house we work on is a hundred years old. In new neighbourhoods like Ypenburg and Leidschenveen, and on large renovations in the city, we plaster walls and ceilings dead flat. With the same care, just with different materials.

Ready for wallpaper or ready for paint

Plaster ready for wallpaper is flat but not mirror smooth. Small imperfections disappear under the paper. Ready for paint goes a step further: we sand and fill until nothing shows, even with a light shone along the wall.

For ceilings we also do spray plaster, with or without texture. It's quicker and cheaper than smooth plastering, and it dampens sound.

Working with contractors

For contractors and architects we work to schedule. You get a regular crew, a fixed price per square metre and a handover where we walk every wall with a lamp, together with your site manager. Anything that isn't right, we redo before the painter arrives.

Questions about plastering new builds

How long does new plaster take to dry?

Allow roughly a week per millimetre with good ventilation, so three to four weeks for a normal coat. Only then can it be painted. Don't dry it out with the heating, or it will crack.

Do you take on small jobs, like a single wall?

For new builds we'd rather not, as we work per project there. For a single wall in an existing house we're happy to come. We fit it in between two larger jobs.
